If you are feeling stuck in a rut with your training, fed up of the push pull approach to riding, or ready to try something different please come to join us. This way of riding is equally suitable for competitive riders or amateurs just wanting to improve.

Catherine is a licensed instructor of the School of Legerete and focuses on bringing out the beauty in any horse, allowing riders to experience riding in true self carriage using classical, ethical training methods.

The clinic on Saturday includes:
An individual lesson with Catherine.

A dismounted group session with Fiona who is a centred riding instructor. She will be focusing this time on common rider issues using visualisation and stretching technique…s.

A lecture focusing on how to decide on the best approach to basic training for different types of horses.

If you would like to bring your horse the day before or stay until Sunday for extra lessons overnight livery is available.

Thanks to everyone who braved the cold to come to our open day on Saturday.

We had a great day with some very positive changes in our guinea pig rider’s lesson and Yogi enjoying showing off in front of lots of adoring females!

We had some great feedback from people including;

“you could hear the change in the footfalls, the mare started floating”

“everything looked so fluid”

“the horse started to relax, she seemed to enjoy it”

“It was interesting to see Yogi grow when you got on”

First licensed Legerete instructor in the UK

Catherine Marshall has become the first person in the UK to qualify as an instructor of Philippe Karl’s school of Legerete. The teacher training course consists of 3 years training with Philippe himself including flat work, jumping and pedagogy after which students have to sit 4 exams – presenting your own horse, teaching your own student , teaching an unknown student and an oral exam on an unprepared topic.

The exams are judged by Philippe and as yet no one has passed all 4 on the tenth clinic. Catherine passed her teaching exams and the oral presentation but Yogi was a bit short of training given he had just come back into work after two years off with suspensory ligament problems. We then had 3 months to practice and represented in September, becoming a fully fledged instructor of the school. Legerete is an ethical, classical system of training.

It was a very proud moment, becoming an instructor of something I feel so passionate about. I love passing on everything I have learned and starting other people on this new journey with their horses, then watching them develop.
